Blogger to WordPress: My Experience

Blogger to WordPress: My Experience

You may have noticed a thing or two has changed about anikamay.co.uk. I’m the type of person who is constantly looking to improve, and my blog is no exception. I’ve been unhappy with the look of my blog for a while, and no matter how many times I moved things around, it just didn’t give off the professional feel that I always wanted. That’s when I decided it’s time to take the plunge… it’s time to move to WordPress.

I tweeted my frustration a little while back, and got a couple of DMs from fellow bloggers mentioning some services who will migrate your blog for you. Some of these services were charging up to £400, and quoting a time period of two weeks – I’ll pass. Then I thought to myself, why not go to the company, you have always depended on? Pipdig!

I had been looking on Pipdig’s blogger themes page for months, trying to pick between themes and even emailing bloggers to ask if they loved their themes. All replied with a giant yes, but I knew deep down, I didn’t want to remain on Blogger. Not only is the post-editing process difficult, but the whole website just irritated me. I could never find a theme that was exactly what I wanted, and Blogger doesn’t give me a huge amount of options when it comes to customising. With my old theme (created by the amazing Eve at Fearne Creative Design), the layout was simple, and I wanted something new and exciting! I knew if I wanted my blog to grow, I needed a professional-looking, eye-catching theme, and Blogger just couldn’t provide that for me.

So I scanned Pipdig’s website for their migration service (which is currently at a discount), and realised they do most of the heavy lifting – exactly what a girl like me needs. I sat on the webpage for a little while, and decided to sleep on the idea, as I’m super indecisive and usually need a good five days to come to a decision. Overnight, Pipdig sent me an email with the “Top 5 Reasons to Move to WordPress”. It was this article that convinced me WordPress is the way forward.anika may pipdig blossom theme blogger to wordpress template fashion and lifestyle blog

After purchasing Pipdig’s service and the StartUp package from SiteGroup, I basically just sat back and watched the magic begin. Phil from Pipdig is a perfect example of five-start customer service: he is ever-present on Pipdig’s website, social media accounts and via email. I have this annoying habit where I always feel like I’m the most irritating customer in the world, and asked Phil about 300 million questions, because I’m crazy fussy, and he answered every single one.

Plus, it took around five business days for my blog to move over, and everything is the same. My posts, my comments, my social media links and even the arrangement of my sidebar is exactly the way it was before. And here’s another bonus: when you purchase the migration service from Pipdig, you also get to choose one of their amazing templates for free. And it’s no secret – I LOVE FREE STUFF. Once the move was complete, WordPress was set up and ready for me to go, I didn’t even have to make an account!

I truly could not be happier using WordPress, and if you’re thinking about making the move – just do it! You will not regret it! Change is good for the soul, and I thought I would really struggle as I associate WordPress with the savviest of computer users, but I picked it up in less than a day, and there are plenty of tutorials to take a look at in case I get stuck.
I would like to say an enormous thank you to Phil at Pipdig for helping my blog look perfect in my eyes, and for the smoothest transition ever! There’s no way I could have done it on my own.
