Did you know September is one of the most popular months to get married? Me either. Devastatingly, I’m suuuuuper single. It isn’t fun, but going to weddings is. I’m a total romantic, hopelessly. I love anything lovey-dovey, don’t hate PDA and have a small obsession with weddings. I even have a Pinterest board dedicated to my love of weddings. It all started with a couple of videos on YouTube, then it turned into literally watching them non-stop. Now I’m back to earth but I do have three favourites I could re-watch every day: Jess & Gabriel’s Wedding, Marcus & Kristin’s Wedding and Cole & Savannah’s Wedding.
I bought today’s dress, with the purpose of wearing it to weddings. The dress is from Next, one of my go-to stores when it comes to formal or occasion-wear. It’s technically a midi dress, but hits just above my knee as I’m quite a tall gal. What I love most is simple design, yet stunning pattern. It’s a geometric print, and the dress is polyester so flowers wonderfully in the wind. At the waist, there’s an elastic band that helps create that feminine or “slim-thick” silhouette, very handy in a longer dress. Also, I love that the dress has seams at each layers, which gives some depth to it, helps it stand out a little more. Usually, if I’m going casual, I would pair this look with a denim jacket, but the day was so warm – I couldn’t wear anything else!
That’s another bonus. Is there anything worse, than absolutely dominating the dance floor, but also having to actually wipe your forehead because the sweat is starting to drip down your face? Nah. It’s the worse. I’m usually a chilly person, but the minute I hear Rihanna and start doing the dutty wine, I heat up. Therefore, it’s essential I have something with little or no sleeves. The straps on this dress are actually adjustable, which can create a deeper neckline if needed!
