Hi humans! Today, I’m expressing my love for this floral skater dress (what’s new), that I have loved for a while, and will continue to love… as long as it fits me. Although, it does keep getting shorter as I keep getting taller! I would consider myself to be a sentimental person, I definitely have issues when it comes to letting things go, especially clothing. I bought this dress two years ago in anticipation for my first blogger event. The Next Blogger Event was held in Soho in 2015 (there was another one this year but I was too poor to go), and attending that event was my first time heading to London alone and arriving at an event alone. It was during that period of my life where anxiety didn’t have much of an effect on me, I’d only recently been diagnosed but the excitement of being invited somewhere overtook the social apprehensions.
Anyway, I bought this evening dress, and boots especially for the occasion, and have loved the outfit ever since. I actually re-created the look here, for a night out on the town. Since buying it, the dress has remained in amazing condition, despite countless washes and spills and so on. One of the things I look for most in a good piece of clothing is durability, because it’s pretty annoying to pay £50 for something that you only wear three times.
I don’t think I could ever get rid of the dress, because there are so many amazing memories connected to it, and so many amazing things were accomplished whilst it was being worn. For example, at the Next Blogger Event, I won the runner-up award for Best NBN Blogger – the biggest award of the night. I was so honoured to know, out of the entire network of bloggers, I came in second place. I remember the moment they were announcing the runner up, and so many complimentary things were being said, I actually whispered to the blogger next to me: “well it’s definitely not me then”… and all of a sudden my name was being called out.
I also made new friends wearing this dress. When I decided to dress up for this little night out in Leeds, I met some amazing people, who came up to me to compliment my outfit. Since then, those people have become my best friends and I’m so grateful for them being in my life. This dress really keeps on giving. I know they’ll be so many more opportunities to wear this look, whether the boots are included or not (mostly still included). It’s also weird for me to look over the last two posts and see how much I’ve changed physically and emotionally, as well as how much my blog has changed.
Today, I finished the look with this clutch-like bag (which is really a makeup bag) bought from TK Maxx over the summer, and the watch I basically wear everywhere. I feel lost leaving the house without a watch, so I was so excited to stumble across this large-faced piece from New Look that pairs perfectly with everything!
My prayers are with LV x
