Girls’ nights out are one my favourite things to do in the city. Every time I think of one, the song Girls Night by Jessie James Decker starts playing in my head right on cue. From the getting ready stage to the pre-drinking stage, to the photo shoot stage and finally to the heading out the door stage – it’s all fun and games. Whenever I head out for a girls’ night in Leeds, my go-to outfit is a simple bodycon dress. I’ve always been a fan of the style because they’re simple so easy to dress up or dress down. During the summer, I love a cute bodycon paired with a denim jacket and Converse or cute sneakers. During autumn, I like to experiment a bit more, with boots and heels. For today’s look, I’m pairing this incredibly comfortable dress with the even cuter jacket from TOBI.
I’ve never owned a dress that’s this colour before, but I actually really like it. Shopping in-store, I would usually walk straight past a dress like this and head for something black, but a new season means new choices. One of my favourite features is the straps and neckline detail. It’s a unique shape that I wasn’t sure would suit me, but I actually really like it! It’s believed that bodycon comes from the phrase body-conscious, but back when I used to be extremely body-conscious, I would avoid these dresses at all cost! But now, my confidence is back at a natural level and I’m feeling this look! Two years ago, I would be going anywhere without tights on and long sleeve – now I just don’t care, it’s a great feeling. Now… let’s talk this jacket.
The minute I opened the package containing this jacket I literally squealed in excitement. The colour is ten times better in person, trust me! I couldn’t say no to this Piece when choosing from the site as it’s shade is ideal for this time of the year. As the leaves are changing, so is my sense of style and I love how autumnal I feel in this jacket. It’s so incredibly lightweight but doesn’t feel like a waterproof coat or cheap plastic. It has typical jacket features but in a much more stylish sense. Plus, I think the colour compliments the dress really well. One thing I really love is that it closes with a zipper and poppers… I know it’s such a mum thing to love but I value it! The poppers are concealed, so there’s no clunky metal hanging out of the jacket and it gives it that clean and put-together look.
While shopping online at TOBI, I had two looks in mind, both dresses (of course, my fave), but both different. With the opportunity to create these looks, I just couldn’t leave this dress behind, the colour has my heart! Watch this space for the second look by TOBI, coming to the blog later this month!
