I love a simple outfit. I find them easy to style, comfortable to wear and stylish at the same time. I have an incredibly busy day, which means comfort comes first. I know people often say beauty is pain, but if I’m in pain it’s all over my face and that ain’t no beauty.
Today I have back-to-back meetings, a work lunch, a work dinner and then a friendly dinner. I’m going to be full. Because I have so much going on this freezing Friday, I’ve decided to keep it simple, with the help of WearAll. When shopping on their site, I came across this jacket and it was instantly at the top of my wishlist. Sadly, I don’t own a lot of sharp but stylish jackets, and the ones I do own are leather and therefore inappropriate to wear inside (I literally melt in leather). However, when I saw this jacket and read about the fabrics, I knew it would be lightweight and extremely comfortable. I wasn’t wrong! The fabric is soooooo soft. Plus, WearAll’s site is full of amazing coats and jackets.
One thing I really like about the jacket is that it’s black. Like actually black. There have been occasions where I have purchased a black item online, and it’s arrived, only to look purple or blue or brown or even grey. Because this jacket is made from an imitation suede (polyester), it will keep its colour for a long time.
Paired with this jacket, is a white crochet top with cute floral detail around the neck and sleeves. I love the little peephole at the neckline, and the length is perfect for me! The hemline is shaped, so it dips and the front and back which is always a nice feature. The only downside to this top is that it creases the minute you move.
Black jeans are always my go-to when it comes to smart casual. I don’t have a dress code for work, but still like to look put together and I think the jeans do this perfectly. And when I want to feel slightly dressier, I opt for these pointed-toe ankle boots from Next. They’re one of my favourite purchases (I’ve owned them for three years) and fit perfectly. Plus, the boots have a slight heel, which means I get a ‘click-clack’ noise when I want, and they sound like heels.
There’s something about wearing heels or ‘click-clack’ shoes that make me feel more powerful and assertive. It’s like the noise naturally makes me want to strut. Check out my favourite boots below!
To finish the outfit, I’m carrying a faux leather shoulder bag from TK Maxx and of course, my Martha Jackson locket!
