I live for a cosy cardigan. They really do just make me happy in every sense. In fact, the idea of being cosy just makes me happy. I’m a lazy person by nature, so being warm is the best. I love the idea of being completely wrapped in blankets, fuzzy socks on, curled up on the sofa and watching trash TV – even in the summer. Sadly, I have to leave my humble abode and go to work, so a great alternative is a cosy cardigan. I have an office job (when I’m not freelancing), and face some pretty difficult tasks at work. Still, my mind is at ease by the fact that I have a heater at my feet and I’m wrapped up warm.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Nowadays, I’m obsessed with slouchy clothing, anything baggy and oversized. But it’s finally for the right reasons.
When I was younger, I would buy size 20 clothing, despite fitting into size 10, 12 and 14. Everything I owned, other than jeans was way too big for me, extremely baggy and had absolutely no shape. The reason for this? I never wanted anyone to see my body shape. I was so incredibly self-conscious, anxious and low, that the idea of someone seeing the slightest curve made me feel unwell.
Today is a total contrast. I still dress within my comfort zone, but wear baggy clothing because I like it. There’s no deep desire to cover and hide every inch of skin, rather it’s because I want to keep cosy and wrap up.
That may not seem like a lot of growth to some, but for me it’s a huge step in confidence. To go from wearing huge t-shirt and cardigans for hiding away, to wearing them as a style choice is the kind of positive progress I’m happy to make.
Today’s outfit also features my latest handbag purchase for Matalan. I spent hours upon hours searching ShopStyle and Pinterest for a mini tote bag that I can fall in love with. I knew I wasn’t going to spent thousands on a Saint Laurent Sac De Jour so I thought it’s time to find a high street store that is dependable and affordable. Many popped into my mind, and it was only until I drove past a Matalan that I realised I totally forgot it existed. This bag isn’t the only item I left with, and I made sure to assure the employees that they’ll see me again.
The boots I’m wearing are from Next, and I’ve had them for a few years but it’s only now that I’m really starting to appreciate them. I bought them because they were on trend at the time, but ignored the style because I didn’t love it. Now that we’re stuck in winter, I pulled this pair out the back of my wardrobe and forgot how comfortable riding boots can be.
These boots even have a lil’ heel on and they’re so easy to wear! Check out my favourites below:
I feel like I have worn leggings every day since November, and it’s not totally inaccurate. With a large cardigan like this one, leggings are just the go-to. They add to the cosy vibe, they keep it casual and they’re my favourite this in the entire world.
