The £2.50 Skincare Duo That I’m Obsessed With (And It’s Cruelty Free)!

Tesco Softening Daily Moisturiser and Cleansing Face Wash with Cucumber Extract - ReviewI rarely post about beauty and skincare because it’s not my area of expertise. However, when I discovered this skincare duo, I just had to share it on my blog. I can’t allow myself to be the only person in on this.

I shop at Tesco quite a bit, because it’s one of the closest superstores to my home. Plus, they take the VAT off of tampons so it’s my go-to for feminine hygiene. While spending my weekly 30 minutes browsing the beauty aisle, I was hunting down some affordable skincare, because the idea of spending more than £5 on face wash is just not for me. Unless the product is a must-have essential, like Double Wear, I won’t be splashing out on it. It’s just the frugal side of me!

After searching through (what felt like) thousands of different skincare products, I discovered Tesco’s Softening Daily Moisturiser with Cucumber Extract and their Cleansing Face Wash with Cucumber Extract.

I’m not going to lie, I was looking at the prices rather than the product when I found them. The Daily Moisturiser is £1 and the Face Wash is £1.50. I squealed a little when I first saw them. That’s £2.50 for two products!

I know what you’re thinking: £2.50 for face products? They are destined to cause breakouts, be terrible for your skin and full of chemicals. Let me tell you, I have never been so pleasantly surprised in my entire life. My frugalness has finally paid doff.

Tesco Softening Daily Moisturiser and Cleansing Face Wash with Cucumber Extract - ReviewThe first product I used was the Daily Moisturiser (I’ve already been back and bought three more) and my initial thoughts were: it’s significantly softer than I thought it would be – the formula is absolutely amazing. Tesco isn’t lying when they say the cream is softening, because it really has made a difference in my skin. I’ve been using the moisturiser for just over six weeks, and it’s one of my favourite steps in my beauty routine. Using it twice a day, I have found that my skin is softer, never greasy/oily and clearing up.

I struggled with acne throughout my teenage years, and still get the occasional breakout, so applying this moisturiser twice a day is perfect for my skin. It’s for all skin types (I have combo skin) and find that it doesn’t sting, like quite a lot of products do on my sensitive face.

Tesco Softening Daily Moisturiser and Cleansing Face Wash with Cucumber Extract - ReviewI also use the Face Wash twice a day, and find it has the same effects as the moisturiser. With this, I noticed a difference in my skin around three weeks in. The wash is clear in colour (the moisturiser is white) and has a really smooth and soft texture. Mixed with water, the wash gets a little soapy, but not so much it’s difficult to control. I used to use a face wash that would create so much soap, I couldn’t breathe! Fortunately, this wash is not too soapy, and great at removing excess dirt and makeup.

The cucumber scent isn’t overpowering in either product, but then again, cucumber is a scent I love. You get a real sense of refreshment when you use both the moisturiser and wash. Oh, and did I mention they’re cruelty free? The product has not been tested on animals, and Tesco funded research into alternatives to bring us products that everyone can use. I find that the addition of Vitamin E is great for my skincare routine.

It’s difficult to put into words, how happy I am with this little discovery. And innocent scanning of prices in the beauty aisle helped me to find this awesome collection!

There’s a fragrance free Face Wash (if you hate cucumber). They also have Facial Wipes I found online so I’ll be hunting those down too – they’re £1!
