On 17 May 2018, I travelled down to London to visit the Next Press Day and see what this brand will have in store when the colder months arrive. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know Next Press Days are one of my favourite events to attend because there’s always so much to fangirl over – I absolutely love it.
This year was no different, check out some of the looks and trends Next will be bringing our way! The first thing I have to address is that it looks like I’ll be buying every coat Next stocks in the A/W season, can we just talk about the black aviator jacket, the leopard and velvet puffer jackets and the super chic printed pattern coats, they all look amazing?! It’s no secret that I love a good puffer jacket, they’re my favourite spring buy, so I was really excited to see this design in different fabrics and prints. The dusty pink velvet in particular caught my eye, such a pretty colour!
I love that Next is bringing some sophisticated looks back onto the high street, and offering some of the chic pieces we often see in the designer market and on the runway. While looking through the range (especially in the Lipsy section) I was getting quite a few Clueless/1990s vibes and loving it. It’s not just the colours chosen for the clothing, but also the classic designs that are coming back in fashion. There was a pair of pink heeled ankle boots that I couldn’t keep my eyes off! In fact, the shoes were my favourite part of the press day. The nude ankle boots, the snakeskin print ankle boots, the teal cord booties and the tartan loafers looked so perfect on display.
Speaking of tartan, I am soooooo happy Next is bringing back this print, I don’t think it will ever date. Classic looks like this can be owned for years and always look stylish. The shoes, bags, skirts and jackets all stole the show. Also, there was one black handbag from Lipsy while reminded me so much of the Givenchy Antigona bag! It’s the perfect dupe, and looks just as fancy.
A pleasant surprise was the display of lines from other brands that are stocked by Next. There was a lot of emphasis on this at the event, and it prompted me to remember that I can actually buy most of the big labels at Next. Some of the brands available through Next are: Adidas, Nike, Barbour, Lipsy, boohoo, Quiz, Hype, Paperchase, Hollister and even Aldo. I couldn’t possible list them all, but you can find them by clicking here!
Next has to be one of my favourite stores for high quality homeware at an affordable price. Half the items in my living room are from Next (my mum’s a big fan too) so I was really excited to see what’ll be in store next season. As soon as I walked into the event at One Marylebone, I saw this huge, gorgeous, green sofa that looked like it came from a film set in a trendy Manhattan apartment; surrounded by rose gold, white, and pink accessories. The bed on display also looked like a cool Upper East Side loft, the display cushions are so perfect for the setting! There was also a pink armchair sitting in the centre of the room and it took all of my will power not to drag it back to Yorkshire with me.
Out of everything on show in the homeware section, the super-chic, blogger-esque desk was calling my name. If I could, I would take that exact display and place it where my current desk is. Everything about this layout was perfect! The colour of the desk and the simple design was lovely to see, but I absolutely adored the stationary Next showed off. My love of rose gold became complete as I spent a good twenty minutes flicking through the planner, diaries, desk calendar, and files. The design of each piece of stationary combined the colours so well, I really loved the design. I can’t wait until they’re in store – my desk will finally be Pinterest-worthy.
This A/W Next Press Day was one of my favourites as it opened my eyes to a couple of styles I would probably never look at otherwise. The moment the aviator jacket is in store, I’m buying it. Actually, the moment most these items are in store… I’m buying them.
