I love the idea of a cosy winter. Over the Christmas period, everyone is looking forward to the time off and the time in, and I absolutely love the idea of wrapping up with a bunch of treats and switching off from the world for a couple of days.

I live in quite a scenic part of the UK, but there is one place I can safely say I love just as much as Yorkshire when it comes to natural beauty, and that’s the Lake District. I’ve been at least 20 times and it’s such a stunning area of the country. The rolling hills, the cute cabins, the enormous lakes, the endless woodland and the adorable animals is just a tiny window into this natural treasure.

I think a lot of people imagine the Lake District in the summer, when there are more outdoor activities to do. However, when the area is covered in a blanket of snow, it’s just as pretty. When I think of the Christmas holiday and that extra time off for a break, I love the idea of disappearing somewhere quiet and out of the way.

I always see super photogenic cabins and cottages on Pinterest in areas like Big Bear or Aspen, and holiday cottages in the Lake District sounds like a dream.

Christmas automatically makes me feel like I want to unplug, and a cottage in the lakes is the perfect place to do just that. It’s no secret that I’m a long walk enthusiast, and it’s one of my favourite ways to unwind and refresh. I like taking a walk in my local area, but it would be really fun to explore somewhere new – especially while I have the time off!

Treating yourself over the holiday period is a 1000000% essential and it’s especially important to take as many naps as needed because you have all the time in the world. I’m a tea fanatic, and have also consumed a shocking amount of sweet treats during December but there’s no rules this month. Plus, I can take long scenic hikes to walk off all the sugar!

Lakelovers were kind enough to send me this super sweet hamper, and I thought I’d share a couple of my favourite items from the basket. As I visit the lakes quite a bit, it’s not too far from Yorkshire, a lot of my favourites were included in the hamper. Lakeland Mues muesli is so full of flavour, it’s easily my favourite muesli pack to eat with yogurt and extra fruit. The Berry Blast and The Artman Classic are the two I like the most for sure!

Kendal Mint Cake is famous in Cumbria and it’s full of sugar but absolutely delicious. Likewise, the Cartmel Village Shop sticky toffee pudding (which I have already eaten) is so filling and sweet, it’s hard not to want it every time you see it. There are a load of village shops dotted around Yorkshire, and they always have the best homemade and baked goods. Supermarkets have nothing on village shops!

Finally, Penningtons Tea & Coffee is another famous business based in Kendal and they have some of the strongest tasting teas I have ever tried. I’m not a coffee person, and it’s hard to get me to try anything other than Yorkshire Tea, but Pennington’s passion fruit tea is always a front-runner. I got to try their Spiced Christmas blend from this winter hamper and it’s full of cinnamon and spice – I love it!

As much as my inner child loves all the goodies that come with the holidays, the budding photographer in me also can’t help but obsess over the landscapes during this time of year. Naturally, I’m sad autumn had to be over, but that doesn’t mean winter can’t be beautiful too.

With the perfect place to stay and relax, beautiful areas to explore and a basket full of snacks – how can I not be happy?
